Artists Will Also Donate More Than 1000 Concert Tickets To First Responders, Volunteers and People Displaced By Hurricane Harvey

SUGAR LAND, TX (Sept. 7, 2017) -
ZZ Top, Bryan Adams and Sammy Hagar have teamed up with Smart Financial Centre for a food and supply drive that will bring non-perishable food items and cleaning supplies to some of the hardest hit areas affected by Hurricane Harvey. All three artists will be performing at Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land next week and they all have reached out wanting to do more to help the Houston area community. ZZ Top has already teamed up with Smart Financial Centre to donate $100,000 to local relief agencies. Sammy Hagar, who works with local food banks on every tour stop, will be quadrupling his usual donation for the Houston Food Bank. In addition to the relief efforts, all three artists will together donate over a 1,000 concert tickets to first responders, food bank staff, volunteers and people displaced from their homes. The Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management is helping to coordinate these efforts to give a ray of sunshine and a night of rock and roll to these local heroes.

Fans are encouraged to bring donation items to each show (ZZ Top - Sunday September 10th; Bryan Adams – Tuesday September 12th and Sammy Hagar and The Circle – Friday September 15th) and will be able to purchase tickets to any or all of these shows buy one get one free at the SFC Ticket Office using a voucher obtained at the drop off location. There is a limit of 4 tickets per show per person for fans who make a donation, subject to ticket availability.

Items needed include non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies, and gift cards to Home Depot or Lowe’s to help get building supplies for ravaged homes. Smart Financial Centre is working with the Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management to distribute these items in vans provided by Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land. Drop off locations will be available at the venue with volunteers from both the Fort Bend OEM, Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land. 106.9 & 107.5 The Eagle (KHPT-FM & KGLK-FM) will be broadcasting live from Smart Financial Centre encouraging people to help collect these much needed items as well as enjoy an evening of rock and roll and a diversion from the traumatic events of Hurricane Harvey.

“The people in South Texas deserve to have some fun and take their mind of Harvey for a couple hours and the band and I are exited to do that,” remarked Sammy Hagar. “I’m glad Houston is the second show of this tour because I’m most looking forward to getting down there and playing.”

Billy F Gibbons was recently quoted in Rolling Stone Magazine on the Hurricane Harvey aftermath, “The plan is to stick to our guns, charge ahead and pull the show together the best we can.” He characterized the band’s return to the Houston area to play the Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land as “a true homecoming in a very real sense. Our roots are in Houston so this is going to be a very special show for us. We’re hoping that it marks a turning point in the crisis and is a reflection of the indomitable spirit that typifies Texans and Houstonians in particular.”
